Welcome to Gandharan Studies

To enhance research activities in the region of Gandhara, several national and international academic institutions are trying to survey, excavate and preserve the culture heritage of the area. One of the most important academic institutions in Pakistan is the Department of Archaeology, University of Peshawar, which in collaboration with other national and international institutions has been actively involved in field activities in the region of Gandhara. The important activities currently in progress  are The Pushkalavati Archaeological Research Project (www.arch.cam.ac.uk/kashmir-smast), The Kashmir Smast Archaeological Research Project (www.arch.cam.ac.uk/pushkalavati) and the establishment of Ancient and Medieval Gandhara Research Group by the Society for South Asian Studies (www.britac.ac.uk/institutes/SSAS/groups/Gandhāra). The establishment of Gandharan Studies is an effort to try and give a platform to archaeologists, numismatists, epigraphists and art historians, who are at various stages of their careers and whose research focuses on this key region of modern Pakistan, to share their knowledge.

The Gandharan Studies is created and managed by Dr. M. Nasim Khan
